Аннотация

В статье рассмотрена проблема двойственной, политико-экономической, природы одного из ключевых предприятий раннего капитализма – британской Ост-Индской компании (1600–1874). В центре исследования – её трансформация в Индии из купеческой корпорации в территориальную державу в XVIII в. Подчёркнута исходная гибридность компании и прослежено раскрытие заложенного в ней властного потенциала. Оно вывело торговую фирму в конкуренты сразу двух типов политических структур – индийских патримоний и британского государства. У компании выделены черты сходства с обоими этими типами. На их основе объяснены причины победы компании над патримониями и её проигрыш государству в XIX в. Сделан вывод о неадекватности Ост-Индской компании как монопольной торговой организации промышленному капиталу и персонификатору его функции – государству. Случай институциональной мутации Ост-Индской компании подчёркивает взаимозависимость и взаимопереход политической и экономической сфер жизни, что стало особенно очевидным в эпоху глобализации.
